DAVID
Occupation: Professional poker player
My style: Eclectic.
Deciding what to wear: My wardrobe is skewed towards fall, and suit jackets and sports jackets. In summer I just kind of schlep around, wearing whatever.
Where I shop: I live near Kensington Market, so I like going to vintage shops. And I like Club Monaco.
Hat #1: Montreal Expos. Vintage. It matches with my outfit. It’s a friend’s hat.
Hat #2: I’m just going up to the cottage, and I’m waiting for a ride from my friends, so it’s just kind of my beach hat.
Sunglasses: I just picked them up in Kensington Market for five bucks the other day. I was like, “Yeah, yeah!” I like the mirrors. I just like the whole idea of mirror glasses. They’re pretty hilarious.
Shirt: The shirt’s country-western. Very versatile. It’s a fun shirt.
Shorts: These are Club Monaco shorts. They’re classic, and they’re really functional. I love the pockets.
Footwear: They were cheap — $5 dollars from H&M. The support’s not very good, but they’re great for just schlepping around.
Interests: Playing poker, sailing, DJing, creating beats and sounds. My roommate is a DJ. We DJ our own parties and stuff like that.
How I got into poker: I won an online qualifier, and I went down to the (poker) series last year, and I won some money.
Favourite music: Classical, indie, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, etc.
Favourite authors: Noam Chomsky, Peter Singer, Franz Kafka.
TV and Movies: I have a dirty fetish for reality TV. I like art house films.
Favourite food: Gnocchi (dumplings), pizza.
Style advice: Just rock it with respect and do your own shit.
